We encourage parents to trust God
Newsletters keep parents encouraged and in the know for all things COTS Kids!
Devotions at every event. We love getting together with our COTS Kids community but we also want our families to take a moment to focus on Christ. We encourage this by exemplifying it.
Parent Connect
Parents of children of any age supporting each other as we all try to become better than we were yesterday. Childcare is provided.
Family Connect
An opportunity for families to spend time outside of Sunday. This event takes place monthly and is open to any family looking to get connected with other families of faith. Devotion time coupled with snacks and a fun activity are what make family connect a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Meets Monthly September– May.
We grow because we serve!
If you feel that God is calling you to be His hands or feet, try stepping into children’s ministry. We provide training and support for anyone joining our team. Faith is not a feeling, it is an action. When we are called to faith, we are called to action. Have faith, get more info and take the leap.
How can I prepare for a visit?
At COTS, safety is a priority. We have a check-in system that ensures that every child is accounted for and a way for us to verify who they belong to. If this is your first time visiting, we encourage you to come 20 minutes early to register, check your child in and walk them to class.
Nervous about leaving your babes? Take a pager! This can ease the transition and give children the time they need to settle in.
Youth
At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, and meet each person where they are. We hope to connect our faith with our everyday lives as we head towards our mission of helping youth build a relationship with Jesus Christ that lasts beyond high school. Every youth can belong.
Contact Curt Campbell for more information or to receive the weekly email newsletter detailing the current and upcoming events of the COTS Youth ministries.
Youth Sunday School
Youth Sunday school classes are driven by our mission to help youth build a relationship with Jesus Christ that lasts beyond high school. With scripture as our foundation, classes are designed to help youth learn Biblical truths that they can apply directly to their daily lives. We aim to make the experience relevant, where tough questions and expressions of honest doubt can be shared and faced together. Classes are offered during the 11:00 a.m. hour, with a class for 6th and 7th graders, a class for 8th graders, and a class for 9th-12th graders.
Youth Group
COTS Jr Youth is for youth in grades 6-8.
COTS Sr Youth is for youth in grades 9-12.
Our COTS Youth groups meet most Fridays. We aim to create a space where youth feel comfortable bringing friends. We learn about God in a nurturing, fun environment with activities like capture the flag, bowling, rock climbing, hide and seek, swimming, and more. Once a month we gather for a service project to care for our neighbors in the Cleveland area. COTS Sr Youth includes Sprockets every other week.
Acolytes Ministry (grades 5-12)
Acolytes serve in our traditional worship service. Their symbolic duties enrich our worship as they carry the light of Christ into worship and out to the world. Acolytes also closely assist the clergy in serving Communion, conducting Baptisms, and other portions of the worship service. Youth in grades 5-12 may become acolytes after completing training.
Confirmation
Being confirmed into the church means that a youth or adult is making the decision to proclaim Christ as their Savior and is choosing to become a full member. To prepare for this important life event, the Confirmation Class meets each week from January through May for dinner and conversation before youth group on Friday nights and again during the Sunday school hour to learn primarily about our Christian faith, and also the Church sacraments, and the history, organization, and teaching of the United Methodist Church.
Youth Mission Trip
Each summer youth entering grades 8 and older, high school graduates, and adult leaders head to southern Ohio to work on the homes of those who are physically or financially unable to do so themselves. Each youth has a role on a leadership team that is an important part of making the mission trip happen. The mission trip is held in July with fundraising and planning beginning in early April.
College Scholarships
Each year scholarships are offered both from the Church of the Saviour Foundation as well as the East Ohio Conference. Visit www.eocumc.com/scholarships/ or click here for Calvary Scholarship application.
