lent & easter 2026
There is so much to be a part of here at Church of the Saviour this Lenten season! Easter Sunday worship services will take place on April 5 at 6:30 am, 8:30 am, 9:30 am, and 11:00 am. Come and see!

Shrove Sunday Pancake Supper
Sunday, February 15
You’re invited to a joyful celebration for COTS families on Sunday evening, February 15, from 5–7 pm as we gather for our first (hopefully annual!) Shrove Tuesday on a Sunday Pancake Dinner! This will be a fun, intergenerational evening to celebrate together before the quieter season of Lent begins.
Expect pancakes and toppings, a festive Mardi Gras atmosphere with masks and beads, pancake races, crafts, and joyful music. We’ll decorate and “bury” an Alleluia banner together and offer take-home Lenten resources for families.
Come hungry. Come playful. Come celebrate the change of seasons in the church. All are welcome — bring friends, neighbors, and your sense of fun!

Ash Wednesday
Wednesday, February 18
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent. It is a time to explore the fragility of life, the inevitability of death, and our constant need of God’s grace. We will hold services on Wednesday, February 18 at 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in Myers Chapel, and at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Hall. All services will include the imposition of ashes and a time of confession and renewal.

Lent Group Study
Tuesdays, February 24 – March 31
As Easter approaches, the season of Lent is an opportunity to foster spiritual renewal and deeper relationships with God and each other. The Last Supper: Conversations That Led to the Cross group study, with thought-provoking insights delivered in an accessible manner, will do just that. Gatherings will include a 10-minute video and conversation. For those who would like the participant’s book (not required for the study), limited copies will be available for $20 in the church office or can be purchased online. The 6-week study will be held at two separate times on Tuesdays, February 24-March 31. Click here to read more about the book and sign up.

Sermon Series
Sundays, February 22 – March 22
It would be great if our lives always advanced along an upward trajectory of progress. But that isn’t how life works. All of us go through seasons of uncertainty and challenge, when the direction is unclear and progress feels more like a struggle. During the season of Lent, we will reflect on the stories of God’s people as they made their way from captivity in Egypt to the Promised Land. As we trace their experience, we hope to better understand our own wilderness journeys in faith and in life. Join us for worksip on Sunday mornings during Lent at 8:30, 9:30, or 11:00 a.m.

Lenten Morning Prayer
wednesdays, February 25 – April 1
Church of the Saviour offers a 30-minute prayer service every Wednesday morning at 8 AM in Myers Chapel. The service of Morning Prayer provides a way to center ourselves in God’s presence as we start our day. Consider making this brief but meaningful worship part of your Lenten observance.

Festival of Flowers
Friday, March 6 – Sunday, March 29
Help beautify our worship space on Easter Sunday by participating in the COTS Festival of Flowers. You may order a flowers in a loved one’s honor or memory. All honorees’ and donors’ names will then be listed in our Easter bulletin insert, and the flowers are yours to keep or donate to a local nursing home. All orders are due by Sunday, March 29. Check back here after March 6 for a link to the order form.

choral evensong
monday, March 16
Join us at Church of the Covenant (11205 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106) on March 16 at 7 PM to hear beautiful music sung by a professional choir during this unique and powerful worship service. “Evensong hangs on the wall of life like an old, familiar cloak passed through the generations. Rich with prayer and scripture, it is nevertheless totally non-threatening. It is a service into which all can stumble without censure – a rambling old house where everyone can find some corner to sit and think, to listen with half-attention, trailing a few absentminded fingers of faith or doubt in its passing stream.” — Stephen Hough, The Telegraph

Palm Sunday
sunday, march 29
Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem one week before his resurrection. It marks the start of Holy Week. Palms will be shared at all three morning worship services at 8:30, 9:30, & 11:00 AM.

maundy thursday
thursday, april 2
On Maundy Thursday we remember the last supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. “Maundy” comes from the Latin word “mandatum,” which means commandment. It refers to the new commandment that Jesus gave his disciples in John 13:34 to love one another as he loved them.
All are welcome to join us for a shared meal and worship service in the Great Hall on Thursday, April 2 from 6-8 PM.

The Seven Last Words of Christ
Friday, April 3
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 2747 Fairmount Blvd. in Cleveland Height, annually hosts a Community Ecumenical Service on Good Friday from 12-3pm. Spanning the three hours Jesus hung on the cross, the service includes psalms, hymns, prayers, time for silence, and diverse sacred choral works. Seven area clergy persons will preach meditations on the traditional last words of Jesus on the cross. Come for any portion of the service or the whole three hours.

good friday
Friday, April 3
A worship service of Tenebrae will be held in the Great Hall on Good Friday, April 3, at 7 PM. The service will include a narrative from the Gospel of Mark of the final events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion.
“Tenebrae” is the Latin word for “darkness.” This deeply moving and powerful form of worship dates back to the 12th century.
