Jesus gave his life for us not to help us be a little better, but to completely renew us, to make us a new creation. The invitation to Christian Perfection begins with an awareness of purpose: why God entered the world in the first place, why Jesus lived the way he did, why he died and rose again. Paul says that Jesus died for all people so that those who believe in him would no longer live for ourselves alone, but for him. And living for Christ compels us to live for others, as well. How have we known this love through the saints who have gone before us? Who are the saints among us still? And how can we live so that others will know the love of Christ through us?
