For the Israelites, there were many unexpected detours and turns on their wilderness journey. Their journey becomes for us a kind of archetype for our own faith journey. The history of Church of the Saviour and The United Methodist Church have their own stories of wandering in the wilderness. The journey has been especially challenging for women in leadership and ministry. There have been bumps and pitfalls, but there have also been mountaintops and moments to celebrate. As we celebrate United Women in Faith Sunday, we are invited to reflect on the history-making impact of the Methodist movement, the women who have led the way in mission, and how God can still use us to do great things.
