“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” That sounds like a tall order. And if we think about perfection as being divine and without error, it is impossible for us. But Wesley understood Christian perfection as being whole, mature, grown-up, complete . And he drew directly from the teaching of Jesus. Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God and love our neighbor. For him, this summarized the entire witness of scripture.
