Scripture: Exodus 14:10-14, 19-29 (NRSVUE)

As the Hebrew people left behind the camps of Egypt, they thought they had gained their freedom. But before they had reached the sea, Pharaoh and his army pursued them – to recover their losses or to enact vengeance. The people feared for their lives. What would become of them now? Some even wondered if they would have been better off if they had remained in slavery. But God was with them, leading them away from despair and toward hope.
