We tend to think about faith as what we believe and generosity as what we give. But faithfulness and generosity are connected on a deeper level. Our example of both comes from God. God’s faithfulness toward us transcends countless generations of people who have struggled to follow, insisted on our own way, and rebelled against God’s love. Yet, God has never wavered. God’s generosity is evident in God’s grace toward us, making closeness with God possible, and continuing to provide for us all that we need. We can’t be either as faithful or as generous as God. But by growing in our relationship with God and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can grow in generosity and faithfulness. And in so doing, we can better reflect the image of God in which we were created.
