Scripture: Matthew 6:25-33 (CEB)

We spend a lot of time worrying about things, many of which, in the grand scheme of things, aren’t all that important. It may not be what we will eat or what we will wear that really concerns us, but rather being in control of our own destiny. Alexander Hamilton described himself as someone “who will never be satisfied” – a description that turned out to be true. His ambition led to the founding of a new nation, but also to the fracture of his own personal relationships. Jesus didn’t advise us not to have ambition, but to focus that ambition on what matters most: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”
