In the life of faith, there is no special status that exempts us from rolling up our sleeves. Jesus himself set the example of what it means to be a leader: “The greatest among you must become like the youngest and the leader like one who serves.” Serving others does more than help those who we serve; it defines our place in God’s family and helps us to more deeply appreciate those who support and encourage us along the way. There is a place for everyone in the family of God to do something to help others and expand our love for our neighbor.
