Imagine the resentment the older brother must have had. First, his younger brother didn’t want to do his share of the work. Then he felt entitled to a share of the inheritance. Then he blew everything he had – including what rightfully did not belong to him – on wild living. Then he had the nerve to show his face again. And after all that, he was treated like an honored guest, all while the older brother remained responsible and hardworking. Where is the justice in that?
