When we get caught up in emotions – either our own or of those all around us – we can sometimes miss what is right in front of us. That was what happened to Cleopas and the unnamed disciple in this week’s Gospel Lesson. Their hearts were heavy and they were weighed down with grief, so much so that they could not recognize the stranger who walked alongside them. Until a familiar ritual opened their eyes and their minds.
