Do I need to go to church to be a Christian? People sometimes ask this question or, alternatively, make it a statement. While it is true that we can be close to God by spending time in nature, for instance, or follow the teachings of Jesus without darkening the door of a church, there is something about practicing our faith in community that is central to the ministry of Jesus. What is the value of a church community, and why do we invest so heavily in holding it together?
