Black History Month

February 2025
We are blessed to be a diverse congregation. One of the ways we celebrate that diversity is through focusing on Black History Month. Throughout the month of February, our worship will focus on the contributions of significant Black theologians - from the early church patriarchs to the founder of the African Methodist Episcopal denomination to modern liberation theologies.

Blood Drive

Wednesday, February 5 from 9:00AM-3:00PM
All members of the community are encouraged to participate in our next American Red Cross Blood Drive. Appointments are required. Please schedule online using the church's zip code of 44118 or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Those who donate on 2/5 will receive a $15 e-gift card for a merchant of choice.

Souper Bowl of Caring Big Game Watch Party & Food Drive

Sunday, February 9 at 6:00PM
Please join us for the annual chili cook-off and big game watch party! Please bring an entry for the annual chili cook-off competition or a side dish/dessert to share for the meal. The big game will be on the screens. Come for the food, come for the game, come for the fellowship, come for the commercials! We will also be collecting non-perishable food items or cash donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring program to benefit our local food bank distribution centers.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

Monday, February 10 at 6:30PM
The purpose of this group is to facilitate discussion surrounding the challenges faced by individuals who care for loved ones with dementia. We meet the second Monday of the month and welcome anyone in our community who wishes to attend. Leaders of the group are two church members who have both completed training through the Alzheimer’s Association and have personal family experience with this difficult diagnosis.

The City Mission

Wednesday & Thursday, February 12 & 13
We serve dinner at CrossRoads Men's Shelter at The City Mission the 2nd Thursday of each month from about 4:45-6:45PM. A meal for 70-100 people is prepared on the preceding Wednesday evening in COTS' kitchen from about 7-8:30PM. Each effort takes 6–10 people. Come help out each month or whenever you can. We’d love to include you, even if it’s a one-time opportunity. Contact the church office to participate in either the meal prep or serving.

New Member Orientation

Sunday, February 23 at 12:30PM
Have you considered taking the next step in connecting your faith and the church by becoming a member of Church of the Saviour? Membership is like becoming a stakeholder - making the shift from participating to shaping who we are and what we do together. Embark is a 90-minute session orienting you to some of the details about life at COTS - who we are, what we believe and why, where we focus our energy, and how we grow in God's grace together. Lunch is included and childcare is available upon request.

Love Thy Neighbor

Friday-Sunday, February 28 - March 2
The COTS ❤ Cedar Lee initiative is a fun and easy way for our church family to care for and have a positive impact on our community the first weekend of every month. It is as easy as stopping at your favorite business or patronizing your favorite restaurant in the Cedar Lee district. However you choose to participate, be kind, leave a tip, and show the community you care! Buttons and business cards are available at COTS welcome desks to help spread awareness.

Shaker Heights Table Tennis Club

Monday & Wednesdays, January 8 - March 26
This group meets from 6:30-9:30PM in Calvary Hall. There is a $6.00 walk in fee that is payable directly to the club organizers via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal. Beginners to advanced players are welcome for practice, recreational matches, and informal coaching. Minors under 15 should be accompanied by an adult. Please contact the club via the church before visiting the first time.

Today's Needs. Tomorrow's Opportunities
